Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy
Active Michigan State License OR license obtained within 90 days of accepting position
Primary Duties
Evaluates and assesses status of referred clients. Demonstrates the process of obtaining history, performing relevant systems review, selecting and administering specific tests and measures to obtain data.
Demonstrates clinical judgments based on data gathered during initial evaluation of clients. Reflects objective measures in assessment that support problem areas specific to objective findings. Documents measurable, time referenced short and long-term goals.
Plans effective treatment to address the specific impairments identified in the evaluation. Plans and supervises treatment programs. Performs re-evaluations. Treatment is modified based on the patient’s status as well as the age specific needs of the patient.
Administers and safely applies appropriate physical agents specific to impairments. Uses sound clinical judgment when selecting appropriate therapeutic interventions.
Performs patient teaching. Education is ongoing and begins at the onset of care. Education includes patients, family members and caregivers.
Initiates and manages discharge planning beginning at the first visit and is managed throughout the patient’s treatment. Regularly communicates with referring physician.
Documents appropriate patient information following department specific guidelines. Maintains timely and accurate patient records and reports. Documentation is legible, accurate and clear.
Directs and trains assisting staff. Delegates, monitors and provides clinical direction to supportive staff as appropriate. Accepts responsibility for orienting and mentoring personnel and students as requested; provides thorough, adequate, and appropriate information, education, and supervision. Accepts the role of clinical educator in accordance with guidelines of the professional organization.
Participates and takes an active role in educational inservice programs, attends scheduled staff meetings for development and training.
Completes required competency training in a timely fashion.
Demonstrates interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with customers, peers, and other staff.
Performs general office duties.
Performs other job related duties as assigned.
