LRMC Welcomes 7 New Physicians to Medical Staff

Lapeer Regional Medical Center (LRMC) is pleased to welcome seven new physicians to its medical staff. They include: Kevin Carter, D.O., Harry Aretakis, M.D., Josephine Iskander, M.D., and Kathleen Perkins, D.O., Laura Zelenak, D.O., Laurie Rousseau, D.O., and Ahmad Ghabsha, M.D.
Dr. Carter, who is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology, will serve as an onsite radiologist. A graduate of the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic in 2003, served his internship and residency in radiology at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital. He also completed a fellowship in Musculoskeletal Imaging at the renowned Brigham & Women’s Hospital.
Dr. Aretakis, who is board certified in Emergency Medicine, will work in the Emergency Department as a member of the ER-One staff. A graduate of the University of Michigan in 1978, he served his internship in General Surgery at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
Dr. Iskander is the newest member to LRMC’s Hospitalist group. Board certified in Internal Medicine, she graduated from the Kasr El Eni School of Medicine in 1997. She served her internship at Cairo University Hospital and residencies at McLaren Regional Medical Center (Internal Medicine) and the National Cancer Institute.
Dr. Perkins is a Family Practice physician who earned her medical degree in 2006 from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. Her internship was in Family Medicine at Henry Ford Bi-County Hospital and completed her residency (Family Medicine) from St. John Oakland Hospital. Dr. Rousseau is employed by McLaren Medical Group
Dr. Zelenak is assuming Brian Mullally, M.D.’s family practice in Imlay City. Her specialty is Family Medicine, where she is board certified. Dr. Zelenak completed medical school at Michigan State University and served her residency at St. John Oakland Hospital.
Dr. Rousseau is a Family Medicine physician employed by McLaren Medical Group. She completed medical school at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in May of 2000 and served her internship and residency at Mt. Clemens Regional Medical Center, which she completed in June 2003. Dr. Rousseau also has been on staff at Marlette Regional Hospital since Sept. 2003.
Dr. Ghabsha is a physician specializing in Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine. He is board certified in Internal and Pulmonary Medicine and is board eligible for Critical Care Medicine. He is joining the practice of M. Wail Al-Ameri, M.D., Mohammad Kashlan, M.D. and Mazen Sabbaq, M.D. Dr. Ghabsha completed medical school at Damascus University. He served his Residency at Sinai Grace and Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin.
