LRMC Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants
serve the patients of LRMC acute medical & surgical floors as well
as the Transitional Care Unit (TCU). Services are also provided at our Lapeer
Regional Physical Therapy Center located at 1057 Suncrest Drive, Lapeer. Click here
for the mapquest link.
Acute Care/TCU The LRMC therapy staff, together with other
LRMC team members, use their expertise to assist patients to regain their
strength and mobility in order to reach their prior level of function to return
home.
Outpatient Physical Therapy The individualized "hands on" approach that
characterizes a physical therapist’s care is highly valued by patients. When the
LRMC physical therapist sees a patient for the first time, an evaluation will be
performed with a plan of care developed that promotes the ability to move,
reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability. The P.T. and PTA work
side by side to make sure the goals of the treatment plan are met.
Many treatment methods are utilized and may include: ultrasound, EMS
(electric muscle stimulation), massage, heat, ice, and traction to help reduce
pain, swelling, and muscle spasm. Exercise including stretching and
strengthening as well as a wide range of exercise equipment helps to build
strength and increase flexibility.
Specialized therapists are available on site for treatment
to patients of all ages from pediatric clients to the elderly. Specialized
services include treatment of urinary incontinence/women’s health issues,
balance and vestibular issues, and pediatrics. LRMC also employs two athletic
trainers that work at our outpatient clinic and in conjunction with the athletic
programs at Lapeer East and Lapeer West
High Schools.
