Volunteers Offer Care and Support

Lapeer Regional Medical Center volunteers offer a caring word and support for patients, visitors and hospital staff.

There are over 100 volunteers at the medical center who contribute more than 20,000 hours of service annually. These volunteers work in the following areas:

Gift Shop

The Medical Center's Gift Shop offers an assortment of gifts, snacks, and cards to make anyone's day sunnier. Most Gift Shop staff work morning or afternoon one day a week. Proceeds from the Gift Shop are used to purchase patient care equipment.

Patient Transportation

Visitors and patients often require assistance getting to and from areas of the hospital, either because of a physical condition or unfamiliarity with the location of services within the building. These volunteers reduce anxiety by helping patients find their way and obtain needed information.

Central Waiting Area

These volunteers remain at their post so that family members and other loved ones can receive information about a patient having surgery or a procedure. The volunteers ensure that the needs of visitors are met.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers also support the patient rounding program, greet and assist patients and family members coming to the Emergency Department, and support several other services throughout the medical center.
