State-of-the-Art Technology Brings Care Close to Home
08/05/2009
A new cardiac catheter/special procedures laboratory recently opened at Lapeer Regional Medical Center (LRMC). And with it, so did health care opportunities for Lapeer County residents. This laboratory offers state-of-the-art equipment that enables physicians to perform many complex procedures closer to home.

Currently, the lab is used to perform cardiac catheterization procedures to diagnose heart and vascular conditions. It’s also used by radiologists to perform special procedures, such as viewing the kidneys or draining the gall bladder. That means the lab will not only be able to pinpoint problems, but treat them as well.

“The technology in this new lab is a tremendous benefit to the community,” explains Ann Marie Holas-Dryps, manager of Diagnostic Imaging for the LRMC. “It will allow doctors to perform minimally invasive procedures, such as cardiac angiograms, at Lapeer.”

In the past, patients have had to go to larger medical centers further away from home for treatment.

“We’re very excited to bring this state-of-the-art equipment and cardiac services to the Lapeer community,” says Holas-Dryps. “LRMC is a community-based hospital, but we offer the same services as much larger institutions.”
